Your details

Reason: Not eligible for ALG I: qualifying period (Anwartschaftszeit) not fulfilled

How this calculator works

Eligibility (Anwartschaft)

You are eligible for ALG I if the qualifying period (Anwartschaftszeit) is fulfilled: at least 12 months of insured employment within the last 30 months, or at least 6 months under the short-term employment exception.

For simplicity, other formal requirements (unemployed, available ≥15h/week, registered as unemployed, actively seeking) are assumed to be satisfied by default in this calculator.

Reference income and deductions
  • Daily gross reference income: gross insured salary of last 12 months divided by 365.
  • Taxes: deterministic flat rate by tax class (I: 20%, II: 18%, III: 12%, IV: 20%, V: 26%, VI: 30%).
  • Solidarity surcharge: 5.5% of the calculated income tax (if applicable).
  • Social security deduction: flat 20% of daily gross.
ALG I amount
  • Daily net reference income is daily gross minus tax, solidarity (if any), and social security.
  • With child: 67% of daily net; without child: 60% of daily net.
  • Monthly payment is approximated as 30 × daily rate.
Entitlement duration
  • Under 50 years: 12 insured months → 6 months ALG; 24 insured months → 12 months (max).
  • Age 50–54: with ≥30 insured months → up to 15 months.
  • Age 55–57: with ≥36 insured months → up to 18 months.
  • Age ≥58: with ≥48 insured months → up to 24 months (max).
  • If insured months are below the bracket maximum, duration scales proportionally.
Sperrzeit (blocking period)
  • If you are voluntarily unemployed, a Sperrzeit of up to 12 weeks applies.
  • No payments are made during the Sperrzeit, and the total entitlement is reduced accordingly.
